Heb 1:3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Why does the Bible tell us Jesus sat down at the right hand of God? To answer that, we must see what it represents. As I can see it represent five different things:
1) It’s a sign of rest. When you sit down you rest. When Jesus sat down, it shows he is now resting after the job is done.
2) It’s a sign of Completion. It is finished. The job is done
3) It’s a sign of Victory. Kings sat on the throne after winning the battle. The loosing part bowed down before the throne.
4) It’s a sign of Glory. When the King sat on the throne he displayed his Glory.
5) It’s a sign of authority. When the King would sit on his throne he would make judgment and exercising authority.
All of this Jesus did for us.
1) We have come into HIS rest
2) Everything is finished for us. No more things we will have to do
3) We are more than conquerors with him that loved us
4) Jesus prayed, the glory that you gave me, I have given them…
5) Jesus said, see I have given you authority !!!
When did all of this happen? The book of Ephesians tells us that we are SAT with him in heavenly places. The one and only reason why Jesus sat down at the right hand of God was to invite us to sit with him, so we could take part in his rest, completion, victory, glory and authority.
They that are dead with him will also resurrect with him. They that are resurrect with him, will also sit with him. They that sit with him will also reign with him.
