Get ready

Josh 2:18unless, when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down,

Rahab was told to hang up this scarlet cord in her window. She was promised that she and her house would be saved, as long as they stayed in the house behind the red cord.
I am sure every day she looked out the window and asked herself; Is this the day it will happen? Is this the day Jericho will be destroyed? Then suddenly one day she sees an army coming towards Jericho. She gather her family, and her friends telling them to get ready and come to her house because Joshua is coming….

We, the church has been told that this earth is getting ready for destruction. But we have a hope. We have hang our red cord, the blood of Jesus in our window. But we also are looking out the window for the signs of Jesus coming. The disciples asked him; “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

But just like the story of Joshua and Rahab, the army went back and nothing happened. 7 days, and the 7^th day, 7 times, without anything happen. The church have looked out the windiw of time and seen signes of his coming. This have vaused us to gather family, friends and people saying, get ready for Jesus is coming back.

vOne of these days, its really going to happen. Make sure you are in the house. Make sure you are ready.  

Another comforter

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Jesus is using a term not strange for the jews in this verse. Comforter is the translation of the greek word parakletos. Parakletos was a legal term for something like a defending advocate. The latin version is advocatus, where we have our advocate from. 

The jews said that their good works was their parakletos in front of the Father. The only problem with that is that there is another advocate that screems louder. The accuser of the brethren, Satan. He is the prosecuting attorney. His case was always strongest. Thats why the Bible makes it clear that NO one was made righteous by their works. 

So here Jesus shares the good news with the jews. He will give you ANOTHER parakletos. Another advocate. 1 John 2:1 tells us that if we sin, we have a parakletos in from tot the Father. Jesus, our ADVOCATE.

A man after Gods own heart

Acts 13:22And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

o   How was Davids heart?

§  He Sang worship unto God in the wilderness, being an outcast from the family. Not invited to dinners or fellowship. His closest family didnt want to have anything to do with him. Still he worshipped.

§  He sang for King Saul, even knowing God had rejected him, taken his Kingdom, and given it to David himself. He tried to throw a spear at him. Still he Sang

§  He served and submitted himself, even though the King persecuted him, and came after him with an army. He tried to kill him. Still David submitted himself and served him.

§  His Son raped his halfsister, and Davids daughter. Still David forgave.

§  His own son killed his brother, and Davids son. He stole his Kingdom, and went to War against him. Still david Loved him, and said when he was killed: Oh, If I could have died instead of you!

o   Thats a reflection of Gods heart. He died for us when we didnt deserve it. He loved us when we were unloveable. He save dus when we rebelled against him.

o   We are obligated to love. We are obligated to forgive. We must always submit and protect the song and worship he has given us

Do I HAVE to?

John 14:23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Where is your heart today? I am puzzled by all the debates among Christians now a days : The repeated question is: Do I HAVE to?

Do I HAVE to go to church?

Do I HAVE to pay tithe?

Do I HAVE to be baptized?

MUST it be in the name of Jesus ?
Do I HAVE to receive the Holy Ghost?
Do I HAVE to pray every day?
Do I HAVE to be holy?

In the first church they didn't do things because they HAD to. They did it because they WANTED to. If you don't want to be baptized, if you don't want the Holy Ghost, if you don't want to give, and if you don't want to live holy etc etc. The question remains: Do you really WANT to go to heaven. Because the truth is: You don't really HAVE to

Lets eliminate the Giant

2 Sam 21:16And Ishbi–benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.

17But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him….

Here we find David being rescued by Abishai when a giant almost killed him. This is one of four testimonies in 2 Sam 21 of heroes in Israel killing giants. Without a doubt this is a result of them seeing what David did to Goliath. So in a way you can say that because David killed Goliath, he is now rescued or saved from being killed by a giant himself.

When David killed Goliath, he didn’t have to. He was not pressed into a corner. He was not challenged personly. He was not even a soldier. No one expected him to do anything. It was not really his fight. But he felt it was his responsibility as long as he challenged his God and defiled his name. This Giant was standing in the way for Gods people moving forward.

The moral of this story is this: If you kill someone else Giant, someone one else will kill yours. Its tempting to think: That’s not my problem, that’s not my cancer. Its not I that have financial problems, etc etc. But if we pray as it was our giant. If we fast and pray, and help killing other peoples giant, then when we have a giant, they will help us. When we have cancer and need people to not only say they will pray, but actually do it. When I face a mountain, and feel I am sinking, someone else will stretch out a hand and help.
