Eph 3:20Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…
The Norwegian Bible has a bit different wording of this verse. It says: “Unto him that is able to do more than everything, far beyond what we can ask or understand”. When I read this, I asked myself; how is it possible to do more than everything? One thing would be if he claimed that God could do everything, but more than everything? Everything is everything, isn’t it? You cannot have more than everything. At least, so I thought. Until I remembered that God is the only one who can make something that is not. He can create something new. Take for example creation. In the beginning God created heaven and the earth, and the earth was without form and void, and there was darkness upon the face of the deep. If you were there, you might ask: Is this everything? The answer would be yes. But then, suddenly, God created light. WoW. Now “everything” includes light. Again you may ask; is this everything? Yes, at that point that was everything. But then he created the firmament, and then the grass and trees, and then the fishes, animals and birds.
My point is this. When God solves your situation, he might not use any of the seemingly possible solutions. He can create a solution that is not there. He can create a whole new tomorrow. He can solve an impossible situation because he can do more than everything.
When the Prophets prophesied, God created a new situation in the future, that was not there in the first place. That’s why Matthew again and again says things like: This happened that it might be fulfilled… These were situations and happenings that had been created in order to fulfill Gods word. “Everything” was the day as it was suppose to be before God intervened. “More than everything” is the changed day, and the changed agenda after God had changed it.
He can change your tomorrow, because he can do more than everything.
He can change your tomorrow, because he can do more than everything.
