Cor 1:1And
I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of
wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
4And my speech and my
preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of
the Spirit and of power:
5That your faith should
not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Today
there are many different theologies. Many different opinions. And we like to
convince people of our doctrine. Our theology. But Paul said when he came to
the Corinthians, he did not come with his wisdom or excellency of speech. Not
because he didn’t have wisdom. Not because he didn’t know how to speak. But
because he knew the foundation of peoples faith should not be on his wisdom or
theology. But rather a personal experience with God. He does make it clear that
wisdom, and theology are important. Doctrine is very important. But it shouldn’t
come first. When someone’s heart has stopped, the first you do is heart
compression. When the heart beats, you can start thinking on other things. Paul
said I first came with POWER and demonstration. Then later with wisdom. When he
found some disciples in Ephesus, the FIRST thing he asks them is: Have you received
the Holy Ghost since you believed.
Is
your faith founded on the wisdom of men, or have you been born again with the
POWER of the Holy Ghost?
