Rom 8:35Who shall separate us
from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or
famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
….38For I am persuaded,
that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor
things present, nor things to come,
39Nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Before
the long list of things, Paul asks WHO shall separate us from the Love of
Christ? He didn’t say What shall separate us. There is nothing we do, and
nothing other people may do that can separate us from his love. It may feel that he has stopped loving us, when we go though tribulation and distress. Just like a child being corrected may feel like Dad doesn’t love them any
more. But when they grow up they realize it was all out of love. Not the lack
of love, but rather because of love.
There’s
not a WHAT that can separate us, but there is a WHO. That “who” is myself. I
can separate myself from his love. I can never make him stop loving me. But I
can separate me from that love. The Devil is aware of that, and tries
everything he can to make us stop loving him. If he can’t make us stop loving
him, he will try to convince us he has stopped loving us. Let us not be
deceived. Whatever you go though, no matter how difficult it is. God STILL
loves you. And if you stay in his love, and do not leave that first love, he
will turn the situation around for the good. Because EVERYTHING works together
for the good to them that LOVE him. That’s is why it is so important not to
stop loving him. If we stop loving, and instead become bitter, or hateful, those bad things will have no meaning. But when we love or when we continue to believe he loves us, EVERYTHING will work together for the good. LOVE is offering you everything. Hate and bitterness has nothing to offer, other than pain.
