Mark 13:45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
The Bible likens the church to a pearl. Another place we are likened to gold, and another place again we are likened to precious stones, or diamonds. There are some things to learn about the process of how these are made. A pearl is made out of small particles that irritate the soft tissue inside the hard shell of an oyster. As the oyster tries to limit the irritation, it starts to put hard smooth layers over the particle, making a pearl.
Gold is often stuck and mingled together with other rock materials that needs to separated from the gold. This is done by heat. Since Gold can take more heat, they heat up until the gold is separated from the other material.
Diamonds is believed to have formed in the mantle of the earth. Here where temperatures boiled above 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, and pressure exceeded 725,000 pounds per square inch. Under this heat and pressure diamonds are made.
What is it to learn from this?
Do not avoid irritations. God will turn it into a pearl.
Do not avoid the heat. God will purify you into gold.
Do not avoid the pressure of life. You are a diamond in the making.
