Looking unto Jesus

Heb 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The Norwegian bible says fixing your eyes unto Jesus!
I remember I was out fishing for crawfish with my friends family, when I was a kid. They had a big boat, and they let me drive. I remember my friends father taught me how to keep the boat steady. He said, fix your eyes on an abject far away, like the red house on the other side of the lake. I found out is made it easy to keep the boat steady when I looked far ahead.
When we get narrow sighted, and focus on things close by, we start swinging from side to side, and our course gets unstable.
Look unto Jesus. Fix your eyes on heaven, as you travel through life, and you will have a steady course.

In the year King Uzziah died

Is6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Sometimes, something has to die, in order for us to see the Lord. Or to put it another way; sometimes there are people or things that block us from seeing the Lord. In the Song of Solomon, the woman was looking for her loved one. And she says, not before I left them, I found the one my soul loves.

Are you ready to let a relationship die, so you can see the Lord. Are you ready to let go of some friends that are hindering you from experiencing greater things in the Kingdom of God? What will you choose? Your friends or the Lord? When your love for him is great enough, you will leave “them” for him.

Unity releases the oil

Psalm 133:1Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

When we get together in unity the power and anointing flows from the top and down.
Let us get together and pray until we are with one mind, and one accord. Then the oil is released. Just like the day of Pentecost

Acts 2:1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Believe in his name

John 1:12But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

John 3:18“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Who would be given the right to become children of God? It was those who believed in his name. And would be condemned? Those who did not believed in the name of the Son of God. What meanest that? It does not mean that we should believe his name was Jesus. How strange wouldn’t that be? That John is saying that all who believes his name was Jesus will be saved. No, it is the message behind his name. His name is telling us something we should believe. His name represents something.
To believe in his name is to believe that name is what it claims to be. The name of the Father (John 5:43). The name of the Holy Spirit. (John 14:25) The name of the Son (Matt 1:25) That is why we are being baptized in the name of Jesus. Because we believe in his name.
His name is Wonderful, his name is Counselor, his name is Mighty God, his name is Everlasting Father, and his name is Prince of peace.
His name is Jehovah Do you believe in his name?

A new command

Joh 13.34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

In our time and society, love is something that is presented almost out of our control. Because love today is connected to emotions, and emotions is something we can’t control. But here Jesus is telling us to love by command. How can that be done? Because love is not emotions or shallow feelings as Hollywood may present it. Love is a commitment. Love is a choice. Emotions come and go, but a committed choice will stay. You can even start by feeling hate to a person, and you choose to obey Jesus command. You start praying for the person, even though all feelings in you protest. After some time of praying and obeying Jesus command, even feelings will come. The one you felt hate towards, suddenly you feel love for.
If Love is not feelings, then what is it?

It is the choice not to badmouth anyone. It is the choice to give a smile, and to say kind words. It is the choice to honor someone, or even buy him or her a gift. Love is actions. Love is what you do. Love is the choices you make.

Uneducated but still bold

Acts4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Peter and John  had boldness and athority. But where did they get their athority and boldness from? Not from education. We live in a time where education and knowledge recieves aplause everywhere, and it seems no one listens or respects you, unless you can show a degree or title. You are almost not allowed to speak unless you can show a degree.
They marveled about their boldness, because they were unlearned and uneducated men. But then, they realized that they had been with Jesus !!!

No education, and no Dr title, can match a deep prayer life. If you want people to marvel, and if you want to make a difference, the answer is not in the university. The answer is still to be with Jesus.

31And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
