Foolishness of the cross

1 Cor 1:18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Preaching of the cross is more than just that Jesus died for us. Preaching of the cross, includes not only the cross of Jesus, but also our cross. The cross Jesus said we had to take up every day. The cross Paul is referring to when he says, I die every day. It’s about repentance. It’s about Holiness. Its about sacrifice.

In modern and popular Christianity, there is no room for the cross. It is the foolish virgins that say: Give us of your oil, without having to pay the price.

Yes, preaching of the cross has always been foolishness for some. And Paul says it is for those who perish. But for us which are saved, it is the POWER of God.

Take the foolishness away. Take the cross away. Then you take the POWER away at the same time. No Cross à No power. A gospel that does not offend anyone. A gospel with no sting. It’s a gospel with no power. In Acts 2:37, Peter is preaching, and the result is that they are pricked in their heart. Auch!!! The cross. It hurts. But a few min later 3000 recieves the Holy Ghost.

If Holiness is foolishness to you….If Repentance is foolishness to you….. If preaching against sin is foolishness to you…. If having to stay clean until your married is foolishness… If having to dress like a woman if you’re a woman, and as a man if you’re a man is foolishness to you…. If submitting to the Man of God in your life is foolishness….  

Then you have a gospel, and a Christian life with NO POWER.
